Lunch at Catch, St. Regis, Abu Dhabi… Special Post on Memories Thru Lens’ 1st Birthday!

In March 2020, I started my blog. So this March, Memories Thru Lens turned 1! March also happens to be my birthday month!

If it had not been for the Covid-19 Pandemic, we would have visited new places and clicked many new photos. Then, I could have written a special post today, on such a recently visited country. Even though I have photos, clicked a few years ago of the places I visited back then, I felt something latest and new was required for this special first birthday post.

As a foodie, I’ve always been interested in food photography. So I thought, why not make this post special? Not only because Memories Thru Lens turned 1 in March, but also because it was my birthday month! That’s why, in this post, I’m going to share my clicks of the different dishes we had at Catch, St. Regis Hotel, Abu Dhabi, UAE, for my birthday. So, this post is special in two ways!

Entrance of Catch Restaurant, St. Regis, Abu Dhabi…

Let’s start!!

Catch is a seafood cuisine restaurant at St. Regis, a 5-star hotel in Abu Dhabi, Corniche. The restaurant overlooks the sea and has seating arrangements available both outdoors and indoors. Throughout the indoor area of the restaurant, the interior design connects the Diner with the fishermen’s life, like nets and ropes.

In the photo below, on the left side, the seat is designed to resemble fish scales.

From the seating area outside, we could get the view of the sea.

Moving on to the fun part: Food!

They first served us the Mint, Cranberry and Orange Juice as Welcome Drink.

The appetizers:

Starters: Chili Prawns and Fried Calamari.

Chili Prawns had Sweet Chili Sauce and Chives while the Fried Calamari had Signature Spices and was served with Kimchi Mayo.

Main Course: Oven Roasted Sea Bass and Fried Rice…

The Oven Roasted Sea Bass was stuffed with shrimps, aromatic spices and seasonal vegetables.

Now, coming to the Desserts! As a foodie, if you ask me which course in a meal I like the most, I would definitely say dessert!

Desserts:

(i) Warm Chocolate Fondant (Gluten Free): Served with Vanilla Ice Cream and Mixed Berries.

DESTROYED!!!

(ii) Catchamisu with Coffee Caviar, Mascarpone Cream and Almond Crumble.

This is how the Catchamisu was served:

The Catchamisu had coffee caviars on the top. Coffee caviars are the small black coffee pearls on the top of the Catchamisu.

While writing this post, it struck me that ‘Catchamisu’ is actually a Tiramisu. They changed its name to match with the restaurant’s name. Did you guys also realise that?! (If not, read the third or fourth paragraph of this post!)

I really liked the way Catchamisu was served, but I preferred Warm Chocolate Fondant more as it does not have coffee in it like the way the other dessert has.

(iii) Lemon-Mint Sorbet
