Hi Everyone! From this post, we start a series on the Expo 2020 Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE)!!!

Welcome to the new series!

Now, what is Expo 2020?

Expo 2020 is a six month long World Expo, that is currently being held in Dubai, UAE. The Expo was set to start last year, but got postponed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. It started on 1st of October, 2021 and would be held till 31st of March, 2022. There are 192 pavilions in total and each pavilion depicting a country. So, of course, it is impossible to cover the entire Expo in a day!

According to Expo 2020’s official website (expo2020dubai.com), this is first time in World Expo history that every participating country will have a pavilion of its own!

The 182 days mega event, will feature events and shows from many countries and I will share images I took during every visit.

So, in this post, I will share an overview of the Expo and from the next post onwards, it would be from inside various countries’ pavilions.

Five days before Expo 2020 was inaugurated, the official twitter handle of Expo 2020 Dubai, posted a time-lapse video of the construction from the past years:

On 27th November, 2013, UAE won the bid to host this Expo.

Let’s start:

After you reach the Expo site and park your car (or come by a bus or metro) , there are bus services available to take you to the ticket checking counter, from where you officially enter the World Expo.

While leaving, we used this same gate. I really like the view of the gate in the evening when it was lit up. It looked stunning in golden colour in the night sky!:

According to news articles, this 21 metres long gate is made of carbon fibres.

I also spotted some animal sculptures along the way:

The Arabian Oryx is UAE’s National Animal:

Expo 2020, Dubai is divided into six zones:

• Sustainability District
• Al Forsan
• Opportunity District
• Al Wasl
• Mobility District
• Jubilee

In each zone, there are pavilions of countries, organizations and exhibitions.

There are directions given almost everywhere, so its impossible to get lost inside:

Information on the culture and history of the host country was mentioned in the area outside pavilions:
