Desserts @ Iftar at Oléa, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi

If you had already read my previous post, you would know that this is the last post on the Iftar at Oléa, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi. And what’s the last course of any special feast or meal?…of course it’s desserts!

For those, who missed out my previous posts on the Iftar at Oléa, I have given the links of those write-ups at the end of this post.

Let’s start enjoying the desserts!!

There were many desserts to choose from in the desserts section. I could see more desserts than I imagined there would be. There were cakes, some Arabic desserts, bite size desserts, a chocolate fountain and ice cream!

  1. Cakes

2. Arabic Desserts

Umali & Turkish Rice Pudding (from the left)

Nuts Katayef, Cheese Katayef & Luqaimat (from the right)

From the photo below, the first on the left is Luqaimat, a type of Arabic sweet dumpling. Each luqaimat is served with a splash of Date Syrup and a sprinkle of white sesame seeds on top.

I felt the Katayef resembled Somasi, a sweet snack of Tamil Nadu (South India). Here is a great post along with the recipe of Somasi: dosaikal.com/sweet-and-special-somasi/

Kunefe/ Knafeh/ Kanafah is a Middle Eastern dessert made of cheese, semolina dough or shredded filo pastry, rose water/syrup and is garnished with pistachios etc.

Although I like Baklava, Katayef and Luqaimat too, Kunefe is my favourite Middle Eastern dessert for sure!

3. Bite-size desserts (a bit big though!!)

Lemon Curd

4. Chocolate Fountain!

A Fast flowing chocolate fountain!…

A small fruit section was also there:

In the desserts area, like I said in the beginning of this write-up, there was a mini ice cream section too.

This would be the last post on the Iftar at Oléa, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi.
